Lime & Violet Yarn Pr0n Swap Survey!

1. What kind of fibers do you prefer?
Any natural fibers, really. I use alpaca a lot, or alpaca/silk blends. For my current WIPs I am using alpaca/silk, highland wool, wool/cotton/silk/viscose, mohair/silk, and superwash wool. I've never used anything with tencel, soy silk, or bamboo and I am curious.

2. What kind of weight do you prefer (sock, worsted, bulky)?
Anything worsted weight or lighter, especially lace and sock.

3. Do you spin?
I learned on a wheel when I was a little girl. I recently bought a spindle, but until I grow a third arm it's just not gonna happen that way - way too frustrating.

4. Do you crochet?
I can crochet, but don't often. BUT - just today I got the hairpin lace loom and giant tunisian crochet hook I ordered from stitchdiva.com and now I need to learn how to use them.

5. Are there any books, patterns, magazines would you like to own that you don't?
See my amazon.com wishlist.

6. Are you participating in any themed a-longs like the Project Spectrum?
Project Spectrum

7. Do you have a wishlist on Amazon.com or Half.com? (provide a link)
http://www.amazon.com/gp/registry/wishlist/204O750UBUVSG/

8. Any Etsy stores that you would love to get something from?
I have some favorites on etsy: http://www.etsy.com/favorite_listings_public.php?user_id=5003987

9. What other crafty things are you involved in (quilting, drawing, painting)?
Embroidery, sewing, art journals, atc's, collage, bookmaking, and whatever strikes my fancy.

10. What is your favorite sort of scent?
I tend to get headaches from synthetic perfumes, candles, incense, etc but natural fragrances are fine - citrus, amber, vanilla, lavender, ylang ylang if it is in a blend, pomegranate, spices, cocoa, musk. And for some reason I am ok with Bath & Body Works stuff - my favorites there are Japanese Cherry Blossom and Brown Sugar & Fig. Warm, not too sweet scents, mostly.

11. Do you have a sweet tooth and what kind of sweets do you like best?
Gooooood (organic, artisan, gourmet, what have you) chocolate, preferably dark. Though I'll never turn down a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup.

12. What kind of music do you like?
Um. Alternative, I guess you would say. On my iPod shuffle I have Radiohead, Thom Yorke, Gosling/Loudermilk, Chokebore, Mark Lanegan, The Decemberists, The Local Division, The White Stripes, Team Sleep, Ghostland Observatory, and I still need to add The Smiths, The Pixies, Portishead, Massive Attack, Smashing Pumpkins, Nine Inch Nails, and Dirty Three.

13. What do you like to knit? And for whom?
I knit mostly for myself - scarves, shawls, socks, sweaters, armwarmers. I also like to knit sweaters, mittens and socks for my daughter (16 months) and hats and scarves for my husband, and sometimes gifts for my sisters and parents.

14. What sort of things do you like to collect?
Other than yarn? Sketchbooks, books, colored pencils, embroidery floss and pearl cotton, Japanese teacups and sushi dishes, rocks, shells...

15. Do you want needles? And what kind do you prefer?
I use wood and bamboo needles, but don't like Clover bamboo. KA white bamboo needles are the best for circs and dpns, Crystal Palace bamboo circs are good, and Brittany birch straight needles are good if you don't need a pointy tip. I use straights, circs, dpns - whatever makes the most sense for the project. Actually, I need to find somthing in size US4 and smaller with a good pointy tip that isn't sharp like Knit Picks and preferably is warm and light - I'm having issues with laceweight mohair. KA's might be fine, but I haven't tried yet.

Extra question because I think it's important (and might not be apparent yet from my blog):
Colors I love: plum, lavender, raspberry, pink, mauve, cool reds, sky blue, aqua, gray, teal, ivory, chocolate brown, seafoam green, black.
Colors I hate: orange, yellow, neons, greens that are too bright or too warm. I also don't like yarns that are high contrast within the same skein (i.e. handpaints that do the super stripey thing or have a lot of light/dark/light action - makes me headachey).

Phew. I do have real blog content to post soonishly, perhaps tomorrow if I can get pictures of a few things after work and while there is still daylight. Embroidery, socks in progress, and stuff.
